Evidence & evaluation

Measure the implementation honestly.

A NEXT pilot should answer whether learners and staff can use the product, whether assigned learning is completed and understood, and whether the reporting is useful. It should not manufacture claims about employment, wellbeing or recidivism.

Core pilot measures

Reach

Invited, activated and participating learners, reported with clear denominators.

Engagement

Module starts, return activity, completion and time patterns interpreted cautiously.

Learning evidence

Knowledge checks or agreed skill demonstrations tied to assigned content.

Accessibility and usability

Reported barriers, accommodation requests, task completion and learner/staff feedback.

Operational fit

Staff effort, workflow compatibility, support needs and reporting usefulness.

Safety and quality

Complaints, harmful-output reports, incidents, corrections and unresolved limitations.

Measures requiring a separate evaluation design

Employment, education enrolment, housing stability, service retention, wellbeing, legal-system outcomes and recidivism may matter to partners, but NEXT activity alone cannot establish them. Measuring these outcomes requires agreed definitions, appropriate comparison or follow-up methods, lawful data access and careful interpretation.

Reporting rules

  • Show denominators and missing data.
  • Separate platform activity, learning measures and external outcomes.
  • Do not imply causation from participation alone.
  • Include negative findings, barriers and withdrawals.
  • De-identify small-group reporting where identification is reasonably possible.
  • Obtain permission before naming or quoting a partner or participant.

Current evidence status

NEXT does not yet publish completed external pilot results. The first partner evaluation should establish a baseline evidence record. BriteLink will not present projections, demonstrations or internal testing as participant outcomes.
